Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.
Timeline of Steve Jobs
1955: Stephen Paul Jobs is born on Feb 24.
1972: Enrolls into Reed College in Oregon, but drop the course after 1 semester.
1974: Works for video game maker Atari which is Steve’s first job.
1976: Apple Computer is formed. shortly after Wozniak and Jobs create a new computer circuit board in a Silicon Valley garage. A third co-founder, Ron Wayne, leaves the company after less than two weeks.
1984: The Macintosh computer was introduced and goes on sale. It was the first commercially successfully small computer with a Graphical User Interface.
1985: Jobs fired from Apple and he founded Next Inc. (a new computer company making high-end machines for universities).
1986: Jobs founded Pixar for the price of $10 million.
1989: First NeXT computer goes on sale a price of $6,500.
1996: Jobs rejoined Apple and is appointed an adviser to Apple.
1997: Jobs becomes CEO
2001: Apple launches iPod and OS X
2003: Apple launches the iTunes Music Store.
2004: Jobs undergoes surgery for pancreatic cancer.
2005: Apple expands the iPod line with the tiny Nano and an iPod that can play video.
2007: Apple releases its first smartphone, the iPhone.
2009: Jobs went on medical leave and returns to work in June. Later he underwent a liver transplant.
2010: Apple sells 15 million iPad in nine months.
Jan. 17, 2011: Jobs announces a second medical leave with no set duration.
Aug. 24, 2011: Jobs resignsand was replaced by Cook as the CEO.
Oct. 5, 2011: Jobs dies at 56.
